DESCRIPTION/PRECAUTION
–
ANCHOR IS USED TO MAKE FAST THE SHIP WITH
SEABED.
TYPES OF ANCHOR USED ONBOARD ARE –
STOCK
STOCKLESS
MUSHROOM
HIGH HOLDING POWER.
STOCKLESS ANCHOR IS USED ON MERCHANT SHIP.
MARKING OF
ANCHOR CHAIN-
1. CHAIN IS MARKED FROM OUTER END TO INNER END.
2. CHAIN IS HAVING NO OF SHACKLES.
3. EACH SHACKLE IS HAVING A LENGTH OF 15 FATHOM OR 27.5
METER OR 90 FEET.
4. EACH SHACKLE IS JOINED BY A LUGLESS
JOINING SHACKLE.
5. FIRST SHACKLE IS MARKED BY A PIECE OF
SEIZING WIRE ON THE STUD OF FIRST LINK ON EITHER SIDE OF JOINING SHACKLE.
6. EACH
LUGLESS JOINING SHACKLE IS PAINTED RED AND LINKS ARE PAINTED WHITE.
