Precaution –

correct size of slings is used

physical condition of slings

3. Understand the signals to be used while
sling operation

 

Description/precaution-

 1. Rope
slings
– it is formed by joining the ends of 25mm- 30mm dia rope and length
10 meter -12 meter with a short splice. This is used for cargoes in bags, bales
and barrels etc.

 2. Net
slings
-fiber cargo net slings are used. Ropes are of knotted mesh but may
be woven. It is used for jumbo bags, drums.

 3. Drum clamps – it consists
of a round metal ring and two flexible e chains with two “l” shape plates at
one end of chain. It is used to lift 200 ltr drums.

4. Wire
snotter

– it is made of wire by forming an eye of each end. Approximately 16mm dia and
length of 4to 6 meters. It is used for slinging cases, pipes, and logs.
