Two stroke Diesel engine

 Main Engine

Two stroke diesel engines are
mainly used as a main engine onboard
ship which helps to rotate the propeller of the ship by which ship moves.

Working
operation:

In the two stroke diesel engine
cycle is competed in two stroke of the piston.
In two stroke of the piston crankshaft takes one revolution or we can
say that in one power stroke crankshaft take one revolution.

First fresh charge air (Scavenge air) enters into the cylinder liner
through the scavenge port to clear out the exhaust gases. Than scavenge port
are covered by the piston as the piston moves from BDC to TDC. Now the air is
start getting compressed and like this first stroke will be complete in which
air is drown and compressed so this stroke is called suction and compression

stroke

Now after compression of the air
inside the cylinder piston reaches to the before TDC and fuel will be injected
through fuel injector and combustion takes place in the combustion chamber. As
the combustion takes place the hot gases will produce and they try to expand
but there is no space to them for expanding so they will push the piston
downward to BDC. When the piston coming down because of power generation on
piston at the same time piston will uncover the scavenge port so again scavenge
air will start enter and exhaust gas will go out through the exhaust valve. So
this stroke is known as
power and
exhaust
stroke.
