What is G.P rating?

G.P. Rating course is 6 month residential course. This course provides you eligibility to join Merchant Navy as crew member.

The admission process for the G.P. Rating (General Purpose Rating) course in India, overseen by the Directorate General of Shipping (DG Shipping), involves several steps. Here’s a concise overview:

  1. Eligibility Criteria:
    • Candidates must have passed their 10th standard from a recognized board with Science and Mathematics as subjects.
    • They should have scored at least 40% marks in English.

    • Aspiring candidates can apply directly to colleges offering the GP Rating course.
    • The application process typically occurs after completing the 10th standard, 12th Commerce, or ITI.

  3. Medical Examination:
    • Candidates must undergo a medical examination conducted by DG Shipping.
    • Candidate eye sight must be 6/6 in both eye.
    • Candidate must be physically fit.
  4. Course Duration:
    • The GP Rating course spans 6 months.
    • During this period, students receive training in various aspects related to maritime operations and safety.
  5. Admission Confirmation:
    • Upon successfully clearing the CET and meeting the medical requirements, candidates receive confirmation of their admission to the GP Rating course.
