theory from text book.

instructor’s notes

 

Precaution to be observed:

1.    
Reach before
10 minutes on duty for handing and taking over watch.

2.    
Make a hard
copy of daily report and file it.

3.    
Make sure
daily report should be signed by both people for handing and taking over watch.

ENGINE ROOM WATCH KEEPING PROCEDURE:

1.    Standing orders and special instruction of chief engineer officer relating to the operation of the ship’s system and machinery.

2.    Nature of all work being performed on machinery and system, the personnel involved and potential hazards.

3.    Level and where applicable the condition of water or residue in the bilge tank.

4.    Condition and level of fuel in service tank, settling tank, and fuel storage tank.

5.    Any special requirements relating to sanitary system disposal.

6.    Condition and mode of operation of the various main and auxiliary systems including the electrical power distribution system.

7.    Condition and mode of operation of automatic boiler controls systems and other equipment related to the operation of steam boiler.

8.    Possibilities of bad weather, ice, contaminated or shallow water.

9.    Special modes of operation dictated by equipment failure or adverse ship conditions.
