Wear proper PPE.

NO Smoke, light or
heat source in the area.
3.
Apply Vaseline on
open body
4.
Good ventilation
required.

Use proper
technique for painting.

brushes and demonstrate their uses.
Aims:
1.
What are the
different types of brushes used onboard ship.
2.
Learn to identify
common types of brushes.
Requirement for performing the task:
1.
Flat brush
2.
Roller brush
3.
Round brush
4.
Angled brush
5.
Stencil brush
Precaution to be observed:
1.
Choose proper
brush as per work.
2.
Dip only the
bristles of brush in the paint.
3.
Brush handle
should be free from oil and grease.
4.
After paint
bristle should be dip into the fresh water

Task: Surface preparation and painting
Sub Task: Care and maintenance of
rollers, brushes, spray hoses and nozzles.
Aims:
1. How to maintain roller, brush, spray hoses and nozzles.
Requirement for performing the task:
1.
Thinner
2.
Fresh water
3.
Cotton rags
Precaution to be observed:
1.
If eye are
splashed with paint rinse them immediately with the fresh water.
2.
Do not touch
mouth or eyes with gloves when cleaning brushes.
3.
While
cleaning the spray painting machine we have to ensure no leakage are there.
4.
The spray gun
should be kept clean after use so that paint does not dry inside the gun and
clogged the system.
