precautions while using gas cutting torch.

  Aims:

1.    
What are the safety
precautions needs to be following while using gas cutting torch.

 

Requirement for performing the task:

1.    
Reference
theory from MEK text book.

 

Precaution
to be observed:

  1.  Inspect equipment for leaks at all connections
    using approved leak-test solution.
  2. Inspect hoses
    for leaks and worn places.
  3. Replace bad
    hoses.
  4. Protect hoses
    and cylinders from sparks, flames and hot metal.
  5. Use a flint
    lighter to ignite the flame.
  6. Stand to the
    side (away from the regulators) when opening cylinder valves.
  7. Infrared
    radiation is a cause of retinal burning and cataracts. Protect your eyes
    with safety glasses.
  8. Protect your
    body from welding spatter and arc flash with protective clothing.
  9. Be sure there is adequate
    ventilation available when welding in confined areas
  10. Always have a fire
    extinguisher ready for immediate use

Chipping hammer

3.    
Wire brush

4.    
Hand grinder

 

 

Precaution
to be observed:

 

1.    
Surface
should be free from oil and grease

2.    
Remove rust
from surface.

3.    
Grind the
surface.

4.    
Don’t weld or
cut on container.
