ALARMS AND INTERNAL COMMUNICATION

Q1. What are the different types of
alarms in the engine room?

ANS:
Machinery failure alarm, Emergency alarm, CO2 flooding alarm, bilges level high
alarm.

 

Q2. What will you do if you hear
the CO2 alarm in the engine room?

ANS:
Escape from engine room via escape route.

 

Q3. What will you do if hear
general emergency alarms a while you are working in engine room.

ANS:
Leave engine room immediately and go to the muster station for head count and
wear PPE.

 

Q4. What are different ways of
raising fire alarm?

ANS:
You can raise a fire alarm by pushing local fire alarm call point and by
telephone, by shouting fire..Fire…fire.. ., by walkie-talkie.

 

Q5. What are different means of
communication between engine room and bridge?

ANS:
Telephone, voice pipe, public address system, telegraph, walkie talkie etc.

Q6. What will you do in case you
notice a fire in the engine room?

ANS:
First raise the alarm. Fight fire with portable fire extinguisher if small
fire.
