Q 1. What are the duties on cargo watch?
Ans: Duties on cargo watches are as follows:
1.
Do
not allow damaged cargo to be loaded .if damaged cargo is coming on board it is
be brought to the notice of the d/o and c/o
2.
Do
not allow rough handling of the cargoes while loading or discharging.
3.
Cargo
to be loaded as per cargo plan.
4.
Proper
cargo lashing to be carried out.
5.
Protect
cargo from rain, moisture bad smell, etc.
6.
Check
the crane/derrick does not lift up more than safe working load.
7.
Take
care the safety of everybody working on the ship and tell the stevedore to do
the same.
8.
All
cargo gears to be used safely and smoothly and not roughly.
9.
No
smoking to be allowed on the deck.
Q 2. Duties while bunkering?
Ans:
1.
Hoist the flag during day and red light at night while receiving bunker.
2. Put up no smoking notice and follow it.
3.
Make sure a bunkering hose is well secured.
4.
Plug
all deck scuppers.
5.
Have
SOPEP equipment ready for use.
6.
Take
sounding of pump at starting at slow speed; confirm oil going into the correct
tank than decrease the flow.
7.
Proper
communication to be maintained between main deck, engine room and supply point.
8.
Switch
off radar and keep the accommodation door shut.
9.
Keep
save all trays it clean before bunkering start. And put sparks arrester on air
pipes.
Q 4. Duties on anchor watch?
Ans: 1.Anchor
signal are displayed day and night.
2. Deck lights
are on after sunset till down.
3. Appropriate
signal flags are hoisted.
4. to the vessel
is not anchor dragging and if dragging then at once report to the d/o.
5. Keep watch on
other vessels anchored nearby.
6. Do not let
unauthorized personnel and boat along side.
7. Lift up the
gangway when not in use.
8. Keep audio
and visual watch.
9. To sound fog
signal in restricted visibility.
10. Keep
anti-pollution watch.
