Medical Standard : Candidate should have vision in both eyes 6/6 with no color blindness.

Summery

General Purpose rating in short form this course call GP Rating.  This is approved by D.G. Shipping Gov. of India. 

G.P. Rating is the basic course to join merchant navy as a crew level in engine side or deck side. its 6 month residential course. when you join any institute in India for G.P. Rating the institute e will provide you every thing including food, accommodation, uniforms, shoes, stationary, books etc. as its part of the training.

During the course candidate will learn about both department of the ship respectably engine department and deck department including theory and practicals thing. 

After successfully completion of the 6 Month training candidate has to appear for final online exam and oral exam . 

Candidate should score 60% marks to pass final exam. Then candidate will get the passing certificate. 

If in case candidate fail to score 60% passing marks then candidate can appear after 3 Month for second attempt. 

Candidate can appear only 7 times for the G.P. Rating exam if fails which includes First attempt than means candidate has 6 more chance to pass the exam after first exam.
