ROCKET PARACHUTE
Requirement: 4 Per life boat & life raft
There are main 3 types of pyrotechnics
- The rocket
parachute flare shall contained in a water-resistant casing - Shall have brief instructions or diagrams clearly
illustrating the use of the rocket parachute flare printed on its
casing; have integral means of ignition; - Shall Be so designed as not to cause discomfort to the person
holding the casing - It should be used in accordance with the manufacturer’s operating instructions.
- The rocket parachute shall when fired vertically it should reach an altitude
of not less than 300 meter. At or near the top of its trajectory the rocket parachute shall eject a parachute flare, which shall burn with a bright red color burn uniformly with an average luminous intensity of not less than 30000 candela. - Shall Have a burning
period of not less than
40 seconds. - Shall Have a rate of descent
of not more than 5 meter per second and not damage
its parachute or attachments while burning. - Shall Expire in 3 years
from the date of manufacture.
HAND FLARE
6 Hand flare / life boat & life raft
for Foreign Going vessel for short
voyage 3 pieces.
The
hand flare
1. Shall Be contained in a water-resistant casing
2. Should have brief instructions or diagrams clearly
illustrating the use of the hand flare
printed on its casing.
3. Shall Have a self-contained means of ignition;
4. Shall Be so designed as not to cause discomfort to the person
holding the casing
and not endanger
the survival craft by burning
or glowing residues when used in accordance with the manufacturer’s operating
instructions.
5. Hand flare Burn with a bright RED color and 5-8 Nautical mile of visibility
6. Hand Flare Burn uniformly with an average luminous intensity
of not less than 15,000
cadela .
7. shall Have a burning
period of not less than 1 min; Continue to burn after having been immersed for a period
of 10 seconds under 100 mm of water.
BUOYANT SMOKE SIGNAL
The buoyant smoke signal
1. Shall Be contained in a water-resistant casing
2. Shall Not ignite explosively when used in accordance with the manufacturer’s operating instructions
3. Shall Have brief instructions or diagrams clearly
illustrating the use of the buoyant smoke signal printed
on its casing.
4. Buoyant smoke signal Emit smoke of a highly visible
color at a uniform rate for a period of not less than 3 min
when floating in calm water;
5. Shall Not emit any flame during the entire smoke emission time
6. Shall Not be swamped
in a seaway
7. Shall Continue to emit smoke when submerged in water for a period of 10 seconds under
100 mm of water.
